Ibadan — Ambassador Dr. Otunba Moshood Ismail Abioye has congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Abiodun Makinde, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a visionary leader whose people-centered governance continues to bring growth, stability and renewed hope to the State.
In a goodwill message made available to the press, Amb. Abioye commended the Governor for his commitment to infrastructural development, youth empowerment, economic reforms, inclusive governance, education support and social welfare initiatives that have positively impacted residents across the State.
He noted that Oyo State has recorded remarkable progress under Governor Makinde’s leadership and prayed for long life, sound health and greater wisdom for the Governor as he continues to steer the affairs of the State.
“Your Excellency, on behalf of myself and associates, I heartily felicitate you on your birthday. Your style of leadership has reflected humility, compassion and genuine commitment to the welfare of the people of Oyo State. We appreciate your efforts and pray that God continues to strengthen you to do even more,” he said.
Speaking further, Amb. Abioye encouraged the Governor to continue deepening an enabling environment for all political actors, ensuring that the democratic space remains fair, united and supportive — especially for young leaders and emerging voices.
“As we celebrate you today, it is also a moment of reflection. We respectfully urge Your Excellency to continue upholding an open and fair political atmosphere where everyone can participate freely without undue influence or intimidation. It is important that no individual or group feels exploited or dominated by so-called ‘godfathers’. Leaders should serve as mentors and role models, not masters,” he added.*
He stressed that such practices do not reflect the values Governor Makinde is known for, warning that allowing political manipulation or exploitation could contradict the Governor’s reform-driven ideology and public-spirited leadership style.
Amb. Abioye concluded by praying that the Governor’s new year ushers in greater achievements, unity across political platforms, and continued prosperity for the people of Oyo State.
