Kingmakers of Oniroko, oniroko in council under the Akinyele Local Government Traditional Council have implored Akinyele Council Boss, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rasidi Ladoja to fast-track the process of installing a new monarch Oniroko for the Kingdom.
The kingmakers of Oniroko in Council states this while addressing journalists on the vacuum of Oniroko stool.
Among those who spoke were the Balogun of Iroko, Chief Jacob Adetunji, Iyalode of Iroko, Chief Silifat Ibiwunmi Yusuf, Ekerin Oniroko, Chief Isiaka Adeleke from Dakeja Village and the Secretary Oniroko-in-Council, Dr Moshood Abioye.
The Balogun of Iroko revealed that the town needs a head and that the Opeola Royal family has agreed and presented Prince Obasola Adeyemi as Oba-Elect to fill the stool.
Chief Adetunji Balogun Oniroko added that the name has been submitted to the local government for ratification.
The Ekerin Oniroko noted that the head of Opeola family, Professor Abioye, submitted the name of Prince Obasola Adeyemi Opeola to the kingmakers after a joint decision by the family, adding that the kingmakers have also screened the nominee.
The Iyalode of Iroko, Chief Silifat Ibiwunmi Yusuf, urged Governor Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, to assist the town in installing the new Oniroko as lack of head for the kingdom is not good enough.
On his part, the Secretary of Oniroko-In-Council, Dr Moshood Abioye, stated that the kingmakers followed the 1957 Declaration, which led to the emergence of Prince Obasola Adeyemi Opeola as the family concensus nominee for the Oniroko stool.
The council secretary urged the Akinyele boss, Akinyele Traditional, Governor Makinde and His Imperial Majesty Oba Ladoja to assist in fast tracking the installation of Prince Obasola Opeola as a new monarch and guard against external forces imposition.
