Renowned community development advocate and founder of Mosh Estrella Institute, Otunba Moshood Ismail Abioye, has commended the Honourable Member representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, for championing the legislative drive toward the creation of Ibadan State from the current structure of Oyo State.

In a statement issued in Ibadan, Otunba Abioye described the motion as “a bold, visionary, and historically justifiable step that aligns with the yearning of the people of Ibadanland for self-determination, equitable development, and administrative efficiency.”

“The creation of Ibadan State is a necessary restructuring that will benefit not only Ibadan sons and daughters, but the entire federation. I commend Hon. Agboworin for showing legislative courage and historical awareness. It is high time we addressed the imbalance and granted Ibadan the recognition it deserves,” Otunba Abioye stated.

Otunba Abioye further elaborated on the numerous benefits the creation of Ibadan State would bring to governance and national development. Among them:

Enhanced Administrative Efficiency: Governance would be brought closer to the people, ensuring swift policy delivery, transparency, and better resource management.

Accelerated Infrastructure Development: As a new state, Ibadan would attract direct federal attention, investments, and developmental projects across sectors like health, education, roads, and rural electrification.

Political Inclusion: Ibadan would gain full constitutional identity with increased federal representation and political participation, ending decades of underrepresentation.

Cultural Recognition: The rich historical heritage of Ibadan and its traditional institutions would be preserved and celebrated under a state structure aligned with its identity.

Otunba Abioye emphasized that the greatest impact would be felt at the grassroots level. He outlined several anticipated benefits:

Empowerment of Local Communities: Rural and peri-urban areas will enjoy focused governance, with increased access to social amenities and empowerment programs.

Agricultural Expansion: Ibadan’s vast arable land will be utilized for food production and agribusiness, with government incentives to boost local farming.

Youth and Women Development: State creation would open avenues for inclusive leadership, skill development, and economic participation for young people and women.

Strengthening of Traditional Institutions: Monarchs and chiefs would play integral roles in community governance, cultural preservation, and peacebuilding.

Security and Social Welfare: A new state structure would allow community-based security architecture and grassroots-oriented social programs to thrive.

Otunba Moshood Ismail Abioye concluded his statement by urging all stakeholders traditional rulers, political leaders, civil society organizations, youth groups, and the Ibadan diaspora to rally in support of this noble cause.

“Ibadan State creation is not a selfish demand, it is a strategic call for balanced development, justice, and recognition. It is a move that will change the narrative for generations to come. I stand firmly with Hon. Agboworin and all progressives championing this cause,” he affirmed.

The advocacy for Ibadan State continues to gain momentum, with voices from within and outside Ibadan amplifying the call for political restructuring and localized development across Nigeria.
