Amb. Dr. Otunba Moshood Ismail Abioye Presents Address on Strengthening the PDP and Safeguarding Nigeria’s Democracy at Young Leaders’ Gathering in Fiditi, Oyo State

Fiditi, Oyo State : In a strategic move aimed at repositioning the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for greater national relevance and internal stability, Ambassador Dr. Otunba Moshood Ismail Abioye has presented a powerful address titled “Strengthening Our Party, Safeguarding Our Democracy Through a Reinvigorated and United PDP: Preventing the Drift Toward One-Party Dominance, An Urgent Call for Unity and Balance.”

The presentation took place during a special gathering of emerging young PDP leaders in Fiditi, Oyo State, where party loyalists, stakeholders, and grassroots mobilizers converged to discuss the future of the party amid ongoing national political realignments.

In his address, Amb. Dr. Abioye highlighted the pressing need for unity within the PDP, noting that internal divisions, leadership tussles, and unchecked defections have created vulnerabilities that could weaken not only the party’s electoral strength but the democratic structure of the nation as a whole.

He emphasized that Nigeria’s democracy grows stronger when major political parties remain vibrant, competitive, and united. According to him, allowing the country to drift toward a disguised one-party dominance would undermine accountability, reduce political participation, and silence the diversity of voices needed in a thriving democracy.

“This is a decisive moment for the PDP,” he stated.

“For the sake of our party and the future of Nigeria, we must rise above internal differences and rebuild a PDP that is strong, visionary, and united. Democracy flourishes when citizens have choices and our party must remain a major pillar of that balance.”

Amb. Dr. Abioye urged party elders, youth leaders, and grassroots coordinators to collectively embrace reconciliation, transparency, and fairness in party processes. He called for revitalizing the party’s ideological direction, strengthening communication channels, and empowering young leaders who represent the next generation of political leadership.

He further warned that history has shown the dangers of allowing a single political structure to overshadow others, describing such situations as harmful to national development, freedom, and democratic sustainability.

The young PDP leaders in attendance commended Amb. Dr. Abioye for his clarity, foresight, and commitment to the party’s renewal, affirming their readiness to work closely with him and other stakeholders to reposition the PDP for future success.

The Fiditi gathering concluded with a shared resolve: to rebuild the PDP from the grassroots upward, defend Nigeria’s multiparty democracy, and ensure that the party remains a strong and credible force across the nation.
