The Oníroko-Elect, Prince Obasola Opeola, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Wole Akinleye, on his emergence as his party’s Chairmanship Candidate for a second term ahead of the Local Government elections.
Prince Opeola also congratulated two illustrious sons of Iroko Kingdom, Hon. Olalere Solomon (Ere), on his emergence as his party’s candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly to represent Akinyele State Constituency II, and Hon. Yinka Akano, on his emergence as his party’s Councillorship Candidate for Ward 12, Akinyele Local Government.
Describing their emergence as a remarkable milestone for Iroko Kingdom, Prince Opeola said it reflects the growing recognition of the capacity, resilience and leadership qualities of the people of Iroko, expressing hope that the development would translate into greater progress for the community and Akinyele Local Government as a whole.
According to him:
“This era is indeed a huge blessing for Iroko and a great sign that our community will become great again beyond our imagination. The emergence of our sons in strategic political positions is not just a personal achievement for them, but a source of pride and hope for the entire Iroko Kingdom. It is a clear indication that our people are prepared to contribute meaningfully to the development of our local government, constituency, state and the nation.”
Prince Opeola particularly commended Hon. Olalere Solomon (Ere) for what he described as years of impactful and selfless service to the people of Akinyele Constituency II.
He noted that Hon. Ere’s various developmental initiatives, including the installation of solar-powered street lights across Iroko, support for the provision of electricity transformers, financial empowerment programmes for both the elderly and the youth, educational support, humanitarian assistance and several other community development projects, have continued to make meaningful impacts on the lives of the people.
“Hon. Ere’s good works have continued to speak louder than words. From lighting parts of Iroko with solar-powered street lights, supporting the provision of electricity transformers, empowering our elderly and youths financially, and executing several people-oriented programmes, he has consistently demonstrated that leadership is about service. These remarkable achievements have earned him the trust, confidence and support of the people, and I believe they played a significant role in his emergence as his party’s candidate. Good deeds never go unnoticed, and his records will continue to speak for him.”
Prince Opeola also congratulated Hon. Yinka Akano, describing his emergence as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the people and members of his party.
He stated that Hon. Akano’s performance, accessibility and commitment to grassroots development during his previous tenure have made him deserving of another opportunity to serve.
“Hon. Yinka Akano’s track record has undoubtedly contributed to his re-emergence. His commitment to the people, his accessibility and his efforts towards the development of Ward 12 have earned him another opportunity to seek the mandate of the people. I encourage him not to relent or become complacent. Rather, he should see this as a call to do even more. The people expect greater service, greater development and greater impact, and I am confident he has the capacity to deliver.”
Prince Opeola urged all the candidates to see their emergence as a call to greater responsibility and selfless service.
“As we look ahead, it is important that we prioritize the development of our political ward, our local government, our constituency, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. Sustainable development can only be achieved through visionary leadership, unity, inclusiveness and genuine commitment to the welfare of the people. Every leader should remember that public office is a sacred trust and an opportunity to leave a legacy of service.”
He also called on residents of Akinyele Local Government to continue promoting peace, unity and harmony before, during and after the elections, stressing that the collective interest of the people should always come above political differences.
While congratulating the candidates, Prince Obasola Opeola also used the opportunity to respectfully appeal to the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Wole Akinleye, to give priority attention to the ongoing process of filling the vacant Oníroko Stool.
According to the Oníroko-Elect, the kingdom has remained without a traditional ruler since the demise of the late Oníroko, a situation he said has affected the pace of traditional leadership and community development.
“As we celebrate this important milestone, I respectfully appeal to our amiable Chairman, Hon. Wole Akinleye, to use his good office to facilitate the necessary administrative processes that will lead to the successful conclusion of the Oníroko succession. Iroko Kingdom has remained without a traditional ruler since the demise of our late monarch, and this prolonged vacancy is not helping the unity, stability, cultural heritage and overall development of our kingdom.”
He added that enthroning a substantive Oníroko would further strengthen peace, promote unity, attract greater government attention, encourage investment and complement ongoing efforts towards the development of the ancient kingdom.
“I have confidence in the leadership and sense of fairness of Hon. Wole Akinleye. I believe he has the capacity and goodwill to do the needful. The successful conclusion of the Oníroko succession process will stand as one of the enduring legacies of his administration and will further demonstrate his commitment to justice, equity and the development of every community within Akinyele Local Government.”
Prince Obasola Opeola concluded by praying for God’s wisdom, guidance and protection upon Hon. Wole Akinleye, Hon. Olalere Solomon (Ere) and Hon. Yinka Akano as they continue their respective political journeys.
