“23 Killed, 108 Injured in Maiduguri: Calls Grow for Government Accountability”

Fresh details have confirmed that no fewer than 23 people were killed and 108 others injured in the recent tragic incident in Maiduguri, Nigeria. A development that has deepened concerns over security and leadership response across the nation.

Reacting to the heartbreaking figures, Amb. Dr. Chief Moshood Ismail Abioye has renewed his call on the national government to immediately take responsibility and act decisively to protect citizens.

“23 lives lost and over 100 people injured, and yet there is silence from many quarters, who does that? This is not the time for absence or indifference. Leadership must be seen and felt, especially in times like this.”

He stressed that the value of human life must remain the top priority of any government, noting that the continued silence sends a wrong signal to grieving families and affected communities.

While referencing reports that the President of Nigeria is currently in the United Kingdom, he emphasized that governance must remain active and responsive regardless of location.

“Governance does not travel. Responsibility does not pause. Nigerians deserve immediate reassurance and action better than the Apc led federal government renewed hope that’s obvious an hopeless, selfish agenda to Nigerians.”

Amb. Abioye also sent a clear warning to politicians and aspiring leaders who have remained silent in the face of the tragedy:

“To those seeking positions of leadership, your silence is dangerous. Tomorrow belongs to all of us, and the consequences of today’s inaction will not spare anyone.”

He further warned about the broader implications of neglect and indifference:

“What those who should know better are doing today will return to affect all of us. Even if we have done nothing wrong, when the wrath of God or the anger of the people comes, it will not be selective.”

Describing silence as a major threat to national unity and justice, he concluded:

“Our silence is bad, and it is not needed at this time. We must speak, act, and stand for humanity.”

The statement calls for urgent action, collective responsibility, and a renewed commitment to safeguarding lives across the nation.
