The Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Ward 12, Akinyele Local Government Area, has recorded another milestone in its internal democratic process as Hon. Yinka Akano emerged as the party’s consensus councillorship candidate following a peaceful and widely accepted agreement among party stakeholders and members.
The consensus process, which reflected the party’s commitment to unity and inclusiveness, was hailed by leaders and members as a demonstration of political maturity and collective responsibility.
Speaking shortly after the emergence of the candidate, the Ward Leader, Alfa Rasheed Bamigboye, expressed appreciation to all party members for their cooperation and steadfast commitment to the growth of the party.
“I sincerely appreciate every member of our great party for your cooperation towards the growth, unity, and love that have continued to define Ward 12. This is the same path our fathers laid before us, and I am delighted to witness this spirit once again. My prayer is that the love, unity, and understanding we are enjoying today will never fade away.”
The Ward Chairman, Alhaji Titilope Ganiyu, thanked Almighty God, members of the executive committee, and party faithful for embracing peace and consensus in selecting a candidate with the experience and capacity to represent the ward effectively.
“Today is a day of gratitude to Almighty God. I appreciate our executives and members for choosing unity over division and agreeing on a candidate with the experience needed to serve our people. I encourage everyone to remain united and to give Hon. Yinka Akano their full support. I also urge our candidate not to disappoint the confidence reposed in him.”
The Ward Secretary, Comrade Sikiru Raji, congratulated the consensus candidate and wished him success in the journey ahead, urging members to remain committed to the party’s shared vision.
Also reacting, Otunba Moshood Ismail Abioye commended the Ward Executive Committee, particularly the Ward Leader, Alfa Rasheed Bamigboye, and the Ward Chairman, Alhaji Titilope Ganiyu, for their wisdom, fairness, and God-fearing leadership throughout the consensus process.
“I commend our executives, especially the Ward Leader and the Chairman, for handling this process with dignity, wisdom, and the fear of God. Their leadership has strengthened the unity of Ward 12. If we continue to nurture this spirit of love and harmony, Ward 12 will continue to grow, while Iroko and its environs will witness accelerated growth and sustainable development.”
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Yinka Akano expressed heartfelt gratitude to the leadership and members of the party for the confidence reposed in him.
“I am deeply honoured by this unanimous decision and sincerely appreciate every leader and member who found me worthy of this responsibility. I pledge to serve with integrity, humility, and dedication. I also pray that Almighty God will continue to crown the efforts of Otunba Moshood Ismail Abioye with greater success in politics and in all his personal endeavours.”
The meeting concluded with prayers and renewed commitments by party leaders and members to sustain the peace, unity, and harmony that produced the consensus, while reaffirming their determination to work together for the continued progress of Ward 12, Akinyele Local Government, and the overall success of the Allied People’s Movement.
