Amb. Dr. Otunba Moshood Ismail Abioye, has commended the presidential campaign of Oyo State Governor and APM presidential candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde, describing the newly unveiled “Reset Nigeria” agenda as a timely and ideas-driven roadmap capable of giving the country a new direction.
Chief Abioye made the commendation while reacting to the formal commencement of the APM presidential campaign activities and the commissioning of the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Office in Abuja on Monday, September 7, 2026.
He described the development as more than another political campaign, noting that Nigerians are increasingly demanding leadership that offers practical solutions to the country’s economic, security, institutional and developmental challenges.
According to him, the Reset Nigeria agenda provides an opportunity for Nigerians to engage with politics based on ideas, competence, accountability and measurable results.
“Nigeria is at a point where we cannot afford to continue doing politics the old way. Nigerians need a leadership that understands the problems confronting the country and is prepared to provide practical and sustainable solutions.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has presented a vision that deserves serious national attention. Reset Nigeria is not simply a political slogan; it represents a call for us to rethink how we govern, manage our resources and create opportunities for our people.”
Otunba Abioye particularly welcomed Makinde’s position that Nigeria’s natural resources must provide tangible and measurable benefits to Nigerians, describing it as an important conversation that should receive broad national participation.
Makinde had, at the Abuja campaign office commissioning, called for greater transparency across the petroleum value chain and maintained that Nigeria’s crude oil resources should work more directly for the benefit of its citizens.
The Mosh Estrella Institute and Moshood Ajadi Foundation founder further stated that the country needs a leadership framework that prioritises economic growth, job creation, education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, institutional strengthening and responsible management of public resources.
He said the growing interest in the Reset Nigeria agenda demonstrates that Nigerians are ready for a new political conversation centred on solutions rather than political rhetoric.
“We must begin to ask ourselves what kind of Nigeria we want to leave for the next generation. We need leaders who can manage resources responsibly, create opportunities for young people and build institutions that will outlive individuals.
“This is why I believe Nigerians should listen carefully to what Governor Makinde is presenting. We should judge every political aspiration by its ideas, competence, track record and capacity to deliver.”
Abioye also called on political leaders, professionals, traditional institutions, youths, women and other stakeholders across the country to participate actively in the national conversation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stressed that the responsibility of rebuilding Nigeria transcends political party lines, urging citizens to place the national interest above personal and partisan considerations.
The Community leader congratulated Governor Makinde, his running mate Lawal Daura and the leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement on the commencement of the campaign, expressing optimism that the message of Reset Nigeria would reach Nigerians across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
He added that the 2027 election should be about ideas, competence, character, accountability and the ability to deliver measurable development.
“Nigeria does not need another cycle of promises without performance. We need a reset that restores confidence, strengthens our institutions, expands opportunities and gives every Nigerian a reason to believe in the future of our country.
“I therefore call on Nigerians to listen, examine the ideas being presented and participate in the process. The Nigeria we desire will not be built by spectators. It will be built by citizens who are ready to support responsible and purposeful leadership.”
Dr Abioye concluded by describing the Reset Nigeria agenda as an opportunity to place national development at the centre of the 2027 political conversation, urging Nigerians to embrace a politics of ideas and measurable results.
“The time has come for Nigeria to move from political promises to purposeful performance. That is the Nigeria we deserve, and that is the conversation we must have,” he said.
